“Beneath you birch with silver bark
And boughs so pendulous and fair,
The brook falls scattered down the rock:
and all is mossy there.”

Quoted from Samuel Taylor Coleridge (poet, critic, philosopher)

References to Silver and its popularity in myth, legend, and poetic prose appear everywhere.  Imagine if there was not story of Robin Hood and the Silver Arrow, no Lone Ranger and his trusty horse Silver, no silver bullets to vanquish the werewolves ?

The simple fact of the matter is that silver impacts on our lives day in day out, even if we don’t recognise it in its true form, just have a think on it awhile and I bet you can come up with a list of things around you right now that have their origins in silver.

Just to give you an example of two:

  1. Silver is used in clothing to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. It keeps odor to a minimum and reduces the risk of bacterial and fungal infection.
  2. Small devices such as hearing aids and watches commonly use Silver oxide batteries due to their long life and high energy/weight ratio. Another usage are high-capacity silver-zinc and silver-cadmium batteries.

To sum up, silver is all around us, and yet it is very hard to come by in its pure form, and is extremely expensive.  So whats better than a home working oppoprtunity selling a precious metal that has so many uses and that will still have a monetry long after all the banks have gone into melt down and we need our very own silversnowball!
